Domaine Bertrand - Mercurey Rouge "En Boussoy" 2022 12.5% 750ML

This wine from Domaine Bertrand is a tribute to the century-old vines located on the “En Boussoy” parcel. Situated in Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu and nestled between Premier Cru vineyards, this 0.85-hectare plot benefits from soil rich in iron oxide and limestone pebbles, with a north–northwest exposure. This exceptional terroir gives the wine a unique complexity.

Tasting Notes
Mercurey “En Boussoy” 2022

The nose of the 2022 “En Boussoy” is marked by aromas of licorice, wild berries, and spices such as clove. On the palate, it stands out for its finesse and length, offering the sensation of chewing ripe fruit. It is fresh, elegant, and subtle, with notes of fresh wood and young forest. On the mid-palate, nuances of anise and violet emerge, while the second nose reveals hints of leather. Catarina describes it as “the finest and most elegant” of their Mercurey wines, with very good length on the palate.

Service
Between 18 and 20°C

We recommend serving our wines 2 degrees above the usual temperature so they are perfectly settled and reveal all their complexity and aromas.

Ageing
All our wines are aged in oak barrels, 30% of which are new.

For our 2022 vintages, we experimented with the use of egg-shaped tanks. This unique process allows the wine to remain in constant motion, helping to preserve freshness and the purity of the fruit.

Following this successful experiment, we will continue to use these egg-shaped vessels for vintages where the fruit is ripe and juicy, in order to preserve their full fruity expression.
